COMMERCIAL DEBT COLLECTION

Commercial accounts (debts owed by businesses or incurred for non-consumer purposes) are placed with us via a number of sources. We deal directly with creditors as well as receiving referrals from other attorneys and collection agencies. Over the past several years, placements of commercial accounts via electronic networks have become a very significant source of business. This includes purchasing commercial debt at various stages of the collection process, i.e., primary, secondary or tertiary placements, via private brokers in the marketplace.

We also have the ability to forward accounts or judgments obtained in Louisiana to attorneys in other states due to our charter membership in the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys (NARCA). NARCA is a trade organization of collection attorneys concentrating in debt collection. Special communications software is available for networking and monitoring of accounts referred to NARCA members.

Commercial accounts require special evaluation as to debtor solvency and an accurate identification of both the debtor and the type of transaction. We tailor our collection efforts to the needs and wishes of our clients. Some clients wish to have us file civil litigation immediately, without attempting to collect the debt via demand letters or telephone contacts. Other clients require us to perform specific procedures on a timetable basis and report to them accordingly.

Our clients include major banks which lend to businesses, publishing and advertising firms, radio and television stations, trucking companies and local retail firms.
